Every two years, the Goethe Institute hosts the International German Olympics. In national preliminaries, students aged 14–19 of different levels qualify for the finals in Germany. In addition to competitions running over a period of several days, a support program brings participants to a closer understanding of Germany, German culture and local specialties. An opening and a closing ceremony are held in the Olympic spirit of peaceful and fair coexistence and the richness of different cultures in the world.
The slogan “Be there!” is the centrepiece of the campaign; its intention is to motivate the participants to travel to Berlin and become part of the cultural exchange. Berlin provides the perfect setting for this, as the city is already a popular destination for young people from around the world. The visual motif is made up of Berlin’s well-known attractions.
We have been invited to implement of the complete media campaign for the next event in 2016. Over the course of the year, we will create many different media, from pens, to web banners, notebooks, outdoor banners, flyers, stickers, and more. As is befitting for an Olympics, we also supply certificates, trophies and medals. Our focus is on targeted design, so that the event is presented in all its diversity, attracting sponsors and encouraging participants to attend.
